Led by District 1 County Supervisor Gloria Molina, the L.A. Board of Supervisors has passed new restrictions that will effectively eliminate taco trucks from our streets. Under Supervisor Molina’s new rules, taco trucks will have to change location every hour, or face a misdemeanor charge carrying a $1000 fine and/or jail. Yes, jail. Taco Trucks are a special facet of Los Angeles, and something we don’t want to lose. Though this ordinance currently affects just unincorporated parts of L.A., that’s 65% of the County. And of course it opens up the doors for legislation closer to home too. Let’s send Gloria Molina and the L.A. Board of Supervisors a message that we cherish our local vendors and don’t want to see them move away. This new law needs to be repealed!  SIGN THE PETITION!

HERE IS A COMMENT FROM THE LA TIMES ARTICLE -

"Why did this happen?" In very large part due to the propagation of hatred and intolerance against gays and lesbians by the so-called "family-values" right wing groups. I'm only surprised they haven't started openly blaming Lawrence for causing his own death. To the King family, my deepest condolences. To the right-wing "family" crowd: You have destroyed two more families. Add that to a very long and bloody list. Much of the blood of every gay, lesbian, bi, or transgendered person murdered and assaulted in this country is on your hands. And it won't wash off, no matter how much you try to cover it in scripture.

"Several students at the south Oxnard campus said King and his alleged assailant had a falling out stemming from King’s sexual orientation.

The teenager sometimes wore feminine clothing and makeup, and proclaimed he was gay, students said.

“He would come to school in high-heeled boots, makeup, jewelry and painted nails — the whole thing,” said Michael Sweeney, 13, an eighth-grader. “That was freaking the guys out.”

IT IS TIME WE HOLD PARENTS, SCHOOL STAFF, AND LEADERS IN OUR COMMUNITIES RESPONSIBLE!!
