The blog caption above IS the title of the book "Focus on the Fabulous," recently published and currently on the book-signing circuit. The thought-provoking narratives contain an assortment of compositions by 33 participating authors representing Colorado's GLBT community. This book, edited by Matt Kailey, is one which merits recognition and sharing. Attending the first book-signing in Denver, and a subsequent one in Boulder, gave my son and me an opportunity to hear the authors read their stories which were moving and heartfelt. The writings included personal essays and beautiful poetry. Meeting the participants was a pleasure and I admired their talent and pride in their accomplishments.
This book incorporates historical and educational information regarding the GLBT community and also includes a list of available resources.
Reading books is my favorite hobby and I treasure my book collection. Focus on the Fabulous now has a special place in my library. I highly recommend this book - for it's content which is courageously presented, and for the effort to make this beautiful compilation of stories available to all.
As the mother of a gay son, I am proud to submit this guest blog and I encourage all who read this wonderful book to do so with an open heart and mind. While attending the book-signings, I made an observation and wondered: "Where are the parents?"
