Those are words from graphic designer/tattoo artist/fashionista; RENE CORDERO. Rene has been one of the original Deadlee fans. He picked up my first CD at an LA Record Store. He got in contact with me over the Internet, and a friendship was born. Sometimes there are people in ones lifetime that are just meant to be. Maybe we are Louis and Lestat from "Interview With A Vampire". We have survived centuries and now set the agenda for the 21st Century. An artist like myself can only be as good as the friends and people I surround myself with. Rene has been a big part of my career not only as a fan, but through encouragement and support. He also showed his support with this tattoo: Here are some of the great show fliers he has created. RENE is an incredible artist who has also created T. WATSON, a character that will soon be seen on shirts and products around the world.   Rene was born in Huntington Park, CA raised in the Ghetto Fabb City of Watts of Los Angeles, and is currently studying interior architecture in DENVER. TEQUILA SUNRISE

WHEN I GO OUT AND GET MY DRINK ON, MY "DRANKY DRANK" OF CHOICE IS TEQUILA SUNRISE. I USUALLY LIKE A MILLER HIGH LIFE OR CORONA AT HOME, BUT IN THE CLUB I GO FOR THE TEQUILA. I START WITH A COUPLE SHOTS, AND CONTINUE MY PARTY WITH THE SUNRISE. TWO SHOTS OF TEQUILA RIGHT BEFORE I PERFORM HAS ALSO BECOME A LITTLE PRE-SHOW TRADITION OF MINE. I FIND IT LOOSENS ME UP, AND GETS ME MAD PUMPED RIGHT BEFORE I JUMP ON STAGE. TEQUILA ORIGINATED, AND IS STILL MASS PRODUCED IN JALISCO, MEXICO.

SALVIMEX - "UNIENDO FUERZAS"

THIS WEEKEND MARKS THE CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE FOR MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICAN COUNTRIES. IT WILL BE "PUDO PINCHE PARTY" THIS WEEKEND FOR MY LATINOS FROM SOUTH OF THE BORDER, AND CELEBRATING IN MANY USA CITIES TOO. I AM IN DENVER THIS WEEKEND AND WILL BE ATTENDING "EL GRITO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA FESTIVAL":  http://www.newsed.org/elGrito.htm   

I HAVE CHOSEN THIS WEEKEND TO SHOWCASE THE URBAN-LATINO HIP HOP GROUP,  SALVIMEX !  SALVIMEX means the union of two countries, EL SALVADOR and MEXICO. DRASTIKO (born in Mexico)  began the group in 2000 with original member TERCER DISCIPULO (born in EL SALVADOR). This was not only a union of two countries, but a union of traditional LATINO music and hip hop. "THEY TAKE YOU SOMEPLACE YOU MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN EXISTED"- ADVOCATE MAGAZINE 2007

UNO-DOS-TRES, SALVIMEX BECAME A TRIO IN 2004 WITH THE ADDITION OF CRUZ(BORN IN MEXICO). They released their first album, "Uniendo Fuerzes .... y apoco no?! ", to great reviews on BOMBASTIC RECORDS. "Their first full-length CD of "Hip Hop Realidad" is a complicated dialog on love, nationality and struggles within the urban pan-Latino experience. Uniendo veers wildly from playfulness ("La Pathetika") to eerily sweet mourning ("Lost Bullet") to anthemic made-for-your-car stereo bangers ("Loteria"). DRASTIKO & CRUZ continue the group today as a duo, but still represent "Salvadoran, Mexicano every CentroAmericano -SalviMex con Union aqui estamos". - Drastiko.

 

I consider SALVIMEX the best of friends, as we forge similiar paths in HIP HOP. What I have done by bringing GAY issues out in HIP HOP, SALVIMEX has done with IMMIGRATION and other issues of relevance for the "NEW" Latino in the USA.

Last LATINO Comic Standing

THE MOST DIFFICULT THING I HAVE EVER HAD TO DO WAS MY STAND-UP COMEDY ROUTINE. RAPPING, ACTING, WRITING ARE EASY, COMPARED TO TRYING TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH. I have never been one for telling jokes, but I realized Stand-Up COMEDY is just storytelling in a humorous way. Last year, I went to see GEORGE LOPEZ at one of his 10 sold-out performances at UNIVERSAL AMPHITHEATER IN LOS ANGELES. It was better than watching anyone in concert! Here was one man and one mic in front of thousands of people. His TV show was boring and watered down, but his stand-up comedy show was the funniest thing I have ever seen. I went home that night and decided to give Stand-Up comedy a try. I got a great book, COMIC INSIGHTS, and started my comedy journey. I decided to hit up all the Comedy nights in Los Angeles, and watch and learn. What I discovered is that there are MANY talented LATINO comedians out there that are not being recognized. I want to highlight some of the funny people I have come to admire and learn from as I continue my journey into STAND-UP COMEDY.

SANDRA VALLS - is the Queer Queen of Comedy, and is one of the LATIN DIVAS OF COMEDY that was presented on SHOWTIME. This Lesbian LOCA has bigger balls than any man I've seen!

BENY MENA - is my comedy mentor. He has believed in and set me up with some of my gigs. This fast-talking fool is the host at THE LAUGH FACTORY EVERY MONDAY NIGHT @ 8PM in LA . IT IS THE HOTTEST LATINO COMEDY SHOW AROUND!!

EDISON APPLE -  Born On the Tohono O'odam Indian Reservation -Raised in San Diego. I have done some gigs with this funny NATIVE AMERICAN FAG, and this HOT BOI is going to make it big!

RUDY MORENO "THE GODFATHER" of LATINO COMEDY, hosts shows at the famous ICE HOUSE in PASADENA and at THE COMMERCE CASINO. RUDY has great advice for us new comedy booties - "FOR THOSE OF YOU YOUNG COMICS OR ANYONE THAT'S THINKING OF DOING THIS, BE PREPARED TO WORK A LOT OF YEARS  AND FACE A LOT OF DISAPPOINTMENTS. AND, ON THE OTHER HAND, THIS IS THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD - - TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH AND BE YOUR OWN BOSS; THE REWARDS ARE GREAT!"

FELIPE ESPARZA -is the next BIG LATINO COMEDY SUPERSTAR! You heard it from me first. I was a MYSPACE homie before I went to see his live show, so when he saw me I got a shout out from stage: "THERE'S DEADLEE, THE GAY RAPPER, MY MYSPACE HOMIE". CHECK OUT THIS QUOTE FROM COMEDY CENTRAL: "Felipe is a product of the streets of East Los Angeles. There is no subject that Felipe can't make fun of. He could stand on a stage without a single joke and make people laugh."

ZHIVAGO aka The Chorizo King! is one of the phynest comedians out there , but he's straight -- my gay homies. He was the first of the comedians on the scene who helped me and showed me the ropes. I just gotta find out why they call him THE CHORIZO KING!!

CHARLES SANCHEZ ran a club night in LONG BEACH, CA where I made my first 20 bucks doing STAND-UP. You best believe I framed that 20 as inspiration to keep going! Charles Sanchez has a knack for characters such as "BUMPER", the ex-gang member trying to go "straight". Also check him out on SI TV!!

Three sexy Latina detectives who failed the Police Academy are crossing the border in Cha-Cha heels. They got weapons!  CHICO'S ANGELS IS Los Angeles’ favorite, cult-comedy troupe based on the TV SHOW AND MOVIE CHARLIE'S ANGELS. Check out their new YOUTUBE shows!
